The International Union of Peñas of Atletico Madrid, together with the Humo Signals Association, have filed a criminal complaint against UEFA and its president, Aleksander Ceferin, accusing the European football body of alleged document falsification.
The legal action, filed at the Juzgado de Instruction de Plaza de Castilla (Madrid), comes after weeks of tension and silence from UEFA. At the center of the controversy is the controversial penalty taken by Julian Alvarez during the Champions League match between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid (round of 16), which ended in a penalty shootout with the elimination of the “Colchoneros”.
According to the supporters of the lawsuit, the penalty kick video released by UEFA was manipulated. This claim is supported by an expert report prepared last April by the European Computer Forensics Laboratory (LIFE), which reportedly found alterations in the footage. Both associations had officially requested the full, unedited version of the footage from UEFA, but faced with a lack of response, they decided to take legal action.
" The dignity of Atletico fans has been violated ," the statement said. With this action, the associations aim to protect not only the interests of their club, but also the integrity of the game, demanding transparency and accountability at an institutional level.
