The legends of Flamurtar and Barcelona of the 80s have returned once again to the field after 37 years, exactly after four matches in the period 1986-1987 between them in the European Cups.
Saturday afternoon at the "Flamurtari" stadium in Vlora was full of nostalgia and emotions, as the famous names of the two teams in those years were not missing. The match ended 1-5 for Barcelona, with the result being the last in terms of importance, with their meetings 37 years ago going down in history.
Vasil Ruci, Kreshnik Cipi, Latif Gjondeda, Roland Iljadhi, Eqerem Memushi have conveyed their emotions in what they have described as a historic match with a special emotion. Salvo and Esteban were also friends on the field today, with the latter scoring the goal in the 1-1 draw nearly four decades ago.
Flamurtari and Barcelona first met in the 1986-1987 season in the UEFA Cup for the first round. The match in Vlora ended 1-1 with goals from Vasil Ruci and Esteban. The second time they met in the 1987-1988 season in the UEFA Cup for the third round. The match in Barcelona ended 4-1 with a goal by Vasil Ruçi, while in Vlora Flamurtari won 1-0 with a goal by Sokol Kushta.
In two seasons, 1986-1987 and 1987-1988, Flamurtari faced Barcelona four times in the European Cup, winning once, drawing two and losing only one game. It is expected that the legends of the two clubs will have another confrontation, this time in Barcelona.
