The German national cycling team's training session on the roads of Mallorca was rocked by a serious accident, which injured seven athletes.
Benjamin Bas, Tobias Buk-Gramko, Bruno Kesler, Moritz Augenstein, Luis Gentzik and Max-David Brise, representatives of Germany in track cycling, were seriously injured after being hit by a car.
They received first aid from the medical staff accompanying the team, and were then taken by ambulance to the hospital.
In a media release, the German Cycling Federation assured that its athletes have received injuries to various parts of the body, but none of them are life-threatening.
Meanwhile, according to authorities' investigations, the cause of the accident was an 89-year-old resident.
He lost control of the vehicle, hitting the cyclists, but fortunately tragedy was avoided.
