The President of the Football Federation of Ukraine, Andriy Shevchenko, was not entirely satisfied with the draw for the 2026 World Cup play-offs. If Ukraine wins against Sweden, it will face the best team from the Poland-Albania pair.

“ The draw did not make our task any easier. First of all, all the teams that reached the knockout stage are very strong. We are facing one of the strongest opponents. The level of the Swedish national team players is very high, so we are facing a serious challenge. We will play the first match at home and if we qualify for the final, we will also play as home team. Potentially, we could face the winner of the Poland-Albania match in the final (play-off). This is also one of the most difficult options. The draw certainly did not make things easier for us, so we have to accept the situation as it is ,” he told the official website of the Swedish Federation.
