It is not only the Juventus midfielder, Nikolo Faxioli, under the magnifying glass of Italian justice, as involved in the betting scandal.
The well-known Italian journalist, Fabricio Korona, has shocked Coverciano, as he mentioned the names of two stars of the Italian national team, Sandro Tonali and Nikolo Zaniolo, as suspects for placing bets on illegal platforms, something prohibited by article 24 of the Code of Sports Justice.
The Turin prosecutor's office has taken measures by summoning the former king of the paparazzi to Milan as a person informed about the facts.
Prosecutors already knew the players involved because they had found specific conversations on devices seized from Faxioli in August.
For this reason, they have carried out a blitz intervention in Koverčiano to give notice of the investigation and the seizure of cell phones and tablets as evidence, but also to discover any connection with other "betters" within the "Axurre" camp.
The idea was to wait for the names to be revealed after the match against Malta (also because Tonali and Zaniolo play in England and this was the opportunity to talk to them together in Italy), but the revelations of the journalist Korona accelerated the process.
Yesterday, Korona was heard by the prosecutors for about 45 minutes and then announced spicy truths about the world of football.
In the end he did not make any statement, but chose to express himself on social networks: "An informant revealed to me that Zaniolo had bet on the Roma match in the Italian Cup when he was on the bench. I have been given information from reliable sources which I will disclose as soon as possible".
The well-known paparazzi, after talking about Faxholi, Tonali and Zaniolo, today revealed the identity of a fourth footballer through his website.
The "Dillinger News" portal has announced that the fourth name for which the Italian police will begin an investigation is that of Nikola Zalewski, the Polish football player of Roma, who is also among those who regularly visit illegal betting sites by placing amounts important.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that other names will be published soon, as the list is very long and of course, it does not only include footballers, but also other well-known people in Italy.
Tonali, who plays for Newcastle, and Zaniolo, who moved to Aston Villa this summer, have been ruled out of Italy's training camp after being said to be under investigation by Italian prosecutors.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) said the players were not in the right "conditions" to take part in Italy's next two qualifiers for EURO 2024. The FIGC has not specified what the investigation is about, but the media in Italy are convinced that the suspension of the two talented footballers is related to the investigation into illegal betting.
