Former tennis player Ana Ivanovic (38) has filed for divorce from Bastian Schweinsteiger (41), a former footballer and world champion with Germany, after nine years of marriage. The couple, one of the most famous in the world of sports, married in Venice in 2016 and separated earlier this year. Ivanovic's representative, Christian Scherz, announced in July that the split was due to "reconcilable differences."
According to Bild, Ivanovic officially filed for divorce in November at the Munich court. The 2008 Roland Garros winner, who was ranked number one in the world in tennis, also requested child support in Palma de Mallorca, where she lives with her three sons: Luka, Leon and Teo.
According to Mail Sport, the split stemmed from a "deep crisis" over their different lifestyles. Schweinsteiger was frequently traveling for his job as a commentator, following spells at Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chicago Fire, while Ivanovic wanted to spend more time in Serbia with her children. In June, the media reported that he had been spotted kissing a young woman, Silva.
