For the second year in a row, at the "Golden Ball" Gala Evening, where a special space is dedicated to the Albanian National Team, captain Berat Gjimshiti was honored with the prestigious "National Team Player of the Year" award.
The special award was presented to him by the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama.
Berat Gjimshiti led the Albanian National Team to another historic achievement, securing qualification for the World Cup play-off stage, where Albania, for the first time in history, will attempt to secure a place in the World Cup in March 2026.
His selection as the "National Player of the Year" was made through votes from the Albanian national team players themselves. At the end of the ceremony, Gjimshiti could not avoid the question about the first play-off match against Poland.
"First of all, I feel very honored for the assessment I received, but this is not just mine, it is for all my teammates. As for Poland, they are a team with more experience than us, but I think the chances are 50-50 in terms of qualification, so we will do our best and I hope and wish that all the boys will be ready for the matches in March," said captain Gjimshiti.
