After a seven-year hiatus, without playing a single match, the Eritrean national team is returning to competitive international football.
Eritrea is the only FIFA member not to be ranked by the World Football Governing Body. This African country does not want to play its matches, although it has the right to do so and has not competed anywhere for seven years. The reason is strange, the Football Federation there does not want to play matches to prevent football players from using away matches to leave the country and seek political asylum.
Eritrea lost its ranking because, according to FIFA rules, a team that does not play a match for 48 months loses its right to the world rankings.

The African team last played away against Uganda in 2019, losing 3-0. Now, almost seven years later, Eritrea has officially announced its return to football, with the first tournament it will play in being a qualifier for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
It is a big question in what composition Eritrea will welcome its first competition in almost eight years, but there is "material" in Europe as well, mainly in Scandinavian countries.
Some players in Sweden and Norway are known as Mohammed Saeid (Orebro), Senai Hagos (Asana) and Alexander Andue (Stocksund). The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be played in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
