UEFA has been trying for years to ban fireworks in stadiums among fans, but when it comes to the ceremonies of the activities it organizes, it considers them very important to create the right atmosphere in the stadiums. But the opening ceremony of "EURO 2024" in Munich can take place without fireworks.
The reason is that the fire department of Munich did not give permission to UEFA to use pyrotechnic materials in the city's stadium, where the activity will start on Friday with the Germany-Scotland match.
UEFA's plan envisages the lighting of smokers inside and outside the stadium, to create the most spectacular and colorful environment possible. But until now, the municipality, through the fire department, has not approved the plan. She has requested that the activation of fireworks should be done only by professionals, forcing UEFA to complete the documentation it needs to prove that this moment of the show will be covered by experts and not just volunteers.
