
UEFA has announced it is investigating a number of possible breaches of their rules during the Conference League final, with West Ham facing two charges.
" Disciplinary proceedings have been initiated in accordance with Article 55 of the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR) following the Conference League final match between Fiorentina and West Ham (1-2) played on 7 June 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic . Accusations against Fiorentina:
1) Throwing things, Article 16(2)(b);
2) Lighting fireworks, Article 16(2)(c).
Allegations against West Ham:
1) Invasion of the playing field, Article 16(2)(a)
2) Disposal of items, Article 16(2)(b) The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) will decide on this matter in due course.
The second charge relates to Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biragi who was hit by beer mugs during the first half of the final. West Ham quickly condemned the incident and insisted that anyone identified as throwing objects would face an indefinite ban.
" West Ham unreservedly condemns the behavior of a small number of individuals who threw objects onto the pitch during the Conference League final ," said a statement from the English club.
