The Brazilian forward Vinicius was the player chosen today at the Brazil gathering in Madrid to introduce the match between his representative and Spain. But immediately the discussions turned to the acts of racism in Spain and after some questions, the footballer started to cry, as he could not contain his emotions.
" I think it's sad what happens in every game, every day, every game I play. I also say that it is not only with me, not only in Spain, it is all over the world. In my country it's hard if you're black, a white guy is always chosen. It also happened to my father, he was not hired because of the color of his skin. I get a lot of insults about what is happening to me. The racist is free, they don't denounce him. Every day that goes by, I get sadder about all the insults I get. This is something I see, and I fight after I was elected. I fight to prevent it from happening to anyone in the future.
I thank all the Spanish players for their support. but not only in Spain, in general there is a lot of racism. The Spanish players have always supported me with messages and interviews. I always thought that FIFA, UEFA, CONMEBOL, would do more, like the Brazilian Federation does. I want to fight for all the poor. I want that to change, so that when I talk to the media, I don't come to talk about it.
I think they should mostly talk about what I do on the field of play. Obviously I have to improve, but I'm only 23 and it's a natural process. I ran away from Brazil when I was young and I didn't learn much about racism. Sometimes I have less desire to play, less will. I want to keep fighting ", said the player who then couldn't hold back the tears in front of the journalists.
The latter, seeing his emotional outburst, applauded the Brazilian footballer as a sign of support for what he is doing in the fight against racism.
" If people will start punishing those who do such things, everything will be better for the whole world. Today, many denunciations, documents are made and in the end what happened to a friend of mine in Barcelona, a judicial process is opened and nothing happens. The mentality doesn't change unless we speak up and that way, people will minimize this kind of behavior. There are also children who do these things. I don't blame them, because they are innocent and see what their parents do.
But I have never thought of leaving Madrid, because if I leave, I will give justice to the racists. I want to continue to fight and score goals, so that people can see my face more and more ", Vinisius said, among other things, during the press conference.
