Munir Nasraui, the father of Spanish footballer Lamin Jamal, became publicly known after the event of August 14, 2024, when he was attacked with a knife in the city of Mataro.
He ended up in the hospital with three serious injuries, which left him in critical condition for several days.
Investigations into the incident began immediately to clarify the causes of the conflict and new details have now been made public.
According to court records, the fight took place on a street in the Rokafonda neighborhood and ended with Nasrau being injured.
He appeared a few days ago at the Investigative Court No. 3 of Mataro, not as a victim, but as an accused, as the aggressor's defense claims that the latter acted after taking the knife from one of Nasrau's friends and punching him, suffering a fractured nose.
According to the investigation documents, to which 'La Vanguardia' had access, the incident occurred after two brothers, their father and a family friend were waiting for Munir Nasrau in the parking lot of the football field in Rokafonda.
It all started with a bucket of water
The beginning of the conflict was banal: while Nasraoui was walking alone on 'Frank Marsha' Street, a child playing on the third floor of a building threw water at him from the window.
He got wet and a little later, the child's family members went down to the street, where the first verbal clash occurred.
" This is not how it works! I was walking peacefully and they threw things at me from the window. Either a good lawyer will fix it or we will fix it differently ," Nasraui said to the police.
Afterwards, he met up with two friends from Mataro in Barcelona and at night they returned to the parking lot of the Rocafonda field, where the attack took place.
According to testimonies, the aggressors had with them a folding defensive knife and a large stone.
" Munir started running, the one with the knife followed him and hit him. He stabbed him two or three times in the chest and ribs ," a witness said.
One of Nasrau's friends testified that:
" They wanted to kill him. One of them had a knife and started hitting him like crazy. He was going straight for him to kill him ."
The main aggressor was convicted in December 2024, but has been released on bail and continues to defend his version, claiming that he and his family were the victims, not the attackers, in the conflict with Lamin Jamal's father.
