Group B of the 2026 World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, is considered one of the most balanced groups of the tournament. It includes Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Switzerland and Qatar, while the differences between the teams are expected to be minimal.

Switzerland: The power of experience

Switzerland enters this group with a slight advantage thanks to its vast experience on the world stage. The Swiss national team has participated in 12 World Cup finals, with a best finish of fourth place in 1954.

In the last three editions of the World Cup (2014, 2018 and 2022), Switzerland advanced past the group stage, reaching the quarterfinals in 2014 and 2022.

The Swiss team has established itself as one of the most consistent representatives of European football. Qualification for the 2026 World Cup came after a convincing campaign, in which Switzerland finished first in their UEFA qualifying group.

Canada: Host country with big ambitions

Canada is looking to make the most of its hosting status. The first match against Bosnia and Herzegovina on June 12 in Toronto is considered crucial for the team's morale and chances of advancing to the next stage.

The Canadians are looking to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time in their history. In their previous two appearances, in 1986 and 2022, they failed to record a single victory.

Canada's first appearance at a World Cup was in 1986, when they were eliminated in the group stage without scoring a goal. Their return came 36 years later, at Qatar 2022, where the team showed a competitive level and scored their first goal in World Cup history.

For the 2026 World Cup, Canada secured automatic participation as one of the three host countries, along with the United States and Mexico.

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Return after a difficult path

Bosnia and Herzegovina can benefit from the balance of the group, but they face a major challenge. The team still relies on the experience of veteran striker Edin Džeko, while their ability to control the midfield will be crucial to their success.

Bosnians first participated in the World Cup in 2014, when they qualified as an independent nation. Although they were eliminated in the group stage in Brazil, they recorded their first historic victory in the competition and left a positive impression.

Qualification for the 2026 World Cup came after a dramatic road. Bosnia initially finished second in the qualifying group and then secured their ticket through the play-offs, eliminating Italy on penalties in the play-off final.

Qatar: Looking for a surprise

Qatar is considered the least favorite team in the group, but aims to defy expectations.

Football in the country has seen significant development over the past decade. The greatest achievements remain the triumphs in the Asian Cup in 2019 and 2023, which have placed Qatar among the main forces on the continent.

Participation in the 2022 World Cup as a host country marked Qatar's historic debut in the competition. The 2026 World Cup will be even more significant, as it is the first time the national team has secured qualification through the qualifiers rather than as hosts.

Qatar won its group in the fourth round of Asian qualifiers, leaving behind rivals such as the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
