The pact for immigrants Italy-Albania has come to life. The Italian government has approved today the Rama-Meloni pact, which seems to have changes.

According to "Ilmessaggero", the entire operation - including the trips of Italian ships for the rescue of immigrants and their accommodation in Albania, will cost about 200 million euros per year.

The text specifies that only migrants rescued outside the territorial waters of EU member states will be sent to Albania.

The draft law confirms that the jurisdiction in the centers will be Italian. It will therefore be the Court of Appeal of Rome that will deal with any complaints from immigrants together with the Capital Police Headquarters. In the Gjaderi camp, a small prison will also be built for immigrants who commit crimes.

People inside the facility will be allowed to attend hearings with lawyers and judges via video conference and, if necessary, in person (the state will cover all costs).

The Italian media write that the Gjadri structure for immigrants who will wait for an answer for asylum or those who do not have the right to enter Italy and must be repatriated will have an area of about 77,000 square meters. There will be built 10 buildings that will host a maximum of 3,000 people at the same time. Italian government deputy secretary Giovanbattista Fazzolari said that immigrants can stay in Albania beyond 28 days, but the maximum allowed by Italian law is 18 months. Within 3 months from the entry into force of the agreement, Italy will have to pay 16.5 million Euros to Albania.
