While commenting today on Artan Hoxha's being declared persona non grata by Greece, journalist Marin Mema spoke about his case. In 2012, he was declared persona non grata by the Greek state.
He says he cannot take this case all the way to Strasbourg, as the Greek courts do not allow him to go through the relevant stages.
He also talks about many other people who are non-grata from Greece for reasons he describes as absurd.
" In 2026 I will be entering my 14th year. I have tried to take it to court. I have contacted a lawyer, but they do not let you go through the relevant steps in Greece to take it to Strasbourg, because they know that in Strasbourg they lose it. You do not enter the procedure at all to go through these steps. You have to go through the steps in the relevant country to take it to Strasbourg.
I have the same cross. In other countries they laughed when I told them it was related to a stance on Greece. What we haven't mentioned properly is that this story has never stopped. When I was declared persona non grata in 2012, two others who were with me at that time were declared persona non grata , "said Mema.
