The commissioner in the General Directorate of the Fire Service, Agustin Pepkolaj, has announced the decision for a 15-year sentence for those who deliberately set fires.
Pepkolaj said that public opinion should be sensitized in order not to go as far as arson and punishments.
He also said that even unintentional arsons had an initial purpose, which, according to him, makes the cause of the fire guilty.
"What is important is that the Fire Service is on alert. There are fires in Albania and these forces are operating. This is what we offer. To say the fires are intentional or unintentional must be investigated and have a product at the end. What has been insisted is that the fire which is there, has a reason, has a cause.
On purpose or not, it happened. What the citizens do not understand is that the fire does not become big without being small. According to the penal code, even the decisions that have come out now regulate the burning of these products by citizens.
We need to raise awareness, to prevent cases before we go to punishment. Now we are working for voluntary groups to be groups that act and not to be simply on paper. We held meetings at the level of prefectures", said Pepkolaj on the show "Good Morning Albanians".
