Doctor Roland Xhaxho has been arrested for the crime of 'negligent homicide' in the death of 3-year-old Brian Spahiu.
Two years after the loss of life of 3-year-old Brian Spahiu following an intervention at the dental clinic, police have arrested doctor Roland Xhaxho for 'negligent homicide'.
Ina Xhaxho, Marta Gina, were also arrested for 'Murder by negligence' in collaboration. The arrests were made following the response of the forensic expertise from Italy.
How the incident happened:
The death of a 3-year-old boy after dental surgery at a private clinic in Tirana shocked the entire public opinion.
The 3-year-old's grandfather said they took him to the dentist just to have his teeth cleaned, but after the consultation, the doctor and his daughter suggested surgery and his parents agreed.
On the other hand, the father of the 3-year-old child, Bledar Spahiu, stated to the police that he took his son for treatment to a private dental clinic on Kavaja Street and that doctor Roland Xhaxho gave him total anesthesia to perform the procedure to straighten his teeth.
After completing the procedure, the dentist asked him to pick up the boy from the clinic and take him to his apartment, also recommending the medication he should take.
After they went to the apartment, the child began to feel unwell. The worried parents called the private clinic but no one answered. Seeing the child's deteriorating condition, they took him to the pediatric hospital, which, seeing the child's poor condition, sent him to intensive care. Despite the doctors' efforts to revive him for two days, the child died in the hospital. The parents said at the time that the boy had fallen into a coma after anesthesia.
3-year-old Brian Spahiu passed away in the Pediatrics intensive care unit on October 1, 2023, three days after treatment he received at the dental clinic in the capital of Dr. Roland Xhaxho.
