Criminalistics expert Ervin Karamuço said that the work of SPAK has begun to produce its first effects. According to him, the Special Prosecution's crackdown on the highest levels of the police has caused the latter to change its approach and be more serious.
Karamuço said that the State Police has made significant progress in fighting crime in the Republic of Albania, especially in recent years. He added that for almost 50 days no murder has been recorded in the Republic of Albania, according to him this is a record that has not been achieved by any other country in the region.
"The SPAK network also had high-level state leaders who used it, and many things have come out through them. We have talked about it, imagined it, but it has already been proven, some are still under investigation and some are being tried and so on. Now, as far as the police are concerned, I have defended them several times when they should have been defended and criticized them several times when they should have been criticized.
But, currently, the performance seems very good to me compared to previous periods, to the period a year ago and to the period a year ago. The police have an adjustment. We look at the murder figures that have decreased. We were 3rd or 4th in the European index for crime, and now we are 7th. But, now we have set a record, we have spent 50 days without a single murder in the Republic of Albania, which does not happen in the entire region, so that there are 50 days without a single murder. Meanwhile, the director of the State Police who was criticized today by Berisha, yesterday in Elbasan had zero murders. So these are figures that show that there is a change", said Karamuço on the "Real Story" show on ABC News
