The news published exclusively by "Pamfleti" yesterday that SPAK has investigated and wiretapped members of the Constitutional Court has caused an "earthquake" today.
Analyst Arben Meçe says that with the new law, SPAK has the authority to conduct wiretapping and surveillance of members of the Constitutional Court. He adds that the Prosecutor's Office also has the right to register the case.
"SPAK was established to investigate precisely this area, corruption and organized crime. SPAK has the authority to wiretap even the Constitutional Court. SPAK addresses the relevant structures, because according to the document, this criminal proceeding has been registered. The question is how was the registration made? The prosecution has the right to register the case even principally. In Veliaj, a denunciation was produced by the prosecution. Denunciations are made by report and principally. In the specific case, Dumani says that there is no registration or denunciation of the case. So what is happening in Albania, that is the question?" Meçe told "Report TV".
He further adds that this debate definitely requires transparency from the prosecution, because it concerns the Constitutional Court.
"This debate needs to be clarified, is the SPAK prosecutor right or the journalist who brought it up, that there may be third parties involved. We are talking about the Constitutional Court. But the fact that after so many days the wiretapping has stopped, means that the evidence has stopped. But the criminal offense turns out to be registered. But whether human rights have been violated or not, this is a matter of debate," the analyst said.
