The former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, appeared again at SPAK today.
Beqaj was accompanied by his lawyer, as he arrived at the premises of the Special Prosecutor's Office at 09:00.
Former minister Ilir Beqaj is also under investigation for abuses at SASPAC, the Foreign Funds Coordination Agency. We recall that on Tuesday, January 9, Ilir Beqaj was interrogated for about 9 hours for the sterilization concession.
In a statement to the media, Beqaj said that the interrogation sessions will continue, while he repeated the request to SPAK, to administer the complete materials of the audit report of the HSC.
As he considered the investigations complex, Beqaj underlined that it is necessary to extend earlier than the granting of the concession from March 2011 to September 2013.
In this way, Beqaj tried to justify the affair with the sterilization as he said that the investigations should start when the former Prime Minister Berisha was in power.
But he confirmed what "Pamphlet" wrote three days ago, that he wants the investigation of Ogerta Manastirli. He stated that it should be investigated how the concession was implemented. Minister after him was Manastirliu.
He further said that he received confirmation from the prosecutors that the seized items will be returned to him as part of the ongoing investigation into this matter.
"As you have noticed, there are some long questioning sessions. The issue is complex and today we did not finish the questioning sessions. It is expected that we will have the reports of KLSH.
I believe that the investigations are still very narrow, it is necessary to extend them in two parts from March 2011 to September 2013. Eight years have passed since the implementation of the contract.

We remind you that in November 2023, the Special Court ordered Beqaja to appear twice a month at the prosecutor's office, for the charge of abuse of office. The investigation is about the alleged violations by SPAK, in the sterilization concession worth 100 million euros and a 10-year term, won by the businessman Ilir Rrapaj, already arrested together with the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodian Rrjepaj.
Beqaj is also a person under investigation for the check-up issue, and a few days ago his apartment was searched because there are suspicions that he has also abused SASPAC funds.
