The month of September marked a lower number of accidents compared to September of the previous year.
The Institute of Statistics' latest publication on road accidents notes that this number fell by 16.3 percent. INSTAT cites that the reported data is preliminary and subject to update.
"In September 2025, 102 road accidents were recorded, of which 135 people were injured (killed and injured). During the period January-September 2025, the number of road accidents decreased by 16.3%, compared to the same period a year earlier," the publication states.
Another point that INSTAT makes is the fact that in most cases accidents are the result of drivers, while the problematic age group, according to data processed in this period, is 25-34 years old.
"Road accidents, in 91.2% of cases, occurred as a result of the behavior of drivers. The highest number of accidents, in this period, was caused by the 25-34 age group, which accounts for 26.5% of the total number of accidents."
In September 2025, the highest number of road accidents occurred on Monday with 19.6%, while the lowest number of accidents occurred on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with 9.8% each.
The highest number of road accidents occurred during the time frame 14:00-17:00 and 19:00-24:00, each accounting for 23.5% of the total number of road accidents," the INSTAT publication states./Monitor
