Journalist Lavdrim Lita has analyzed Sali Berisha's stance on the protests and recent political developments, stating that the former prime minister does not prioritize civic mobilization, but rather the protection of his personal and political interests.
According to Lita, the protest for Berisha is simply a tactical tool to "keep under wraps" a part of the supporters who are waiting for action, giving them a platform to express themselves. But in essence, he emphasizes that Berisha does not really want the mass protest.
" Berisha wants an agreement, a constitutional pact. The MPs know this very well, that's why they don't go public. They know what he wants behind the scenes ," said Lita.
The journalist argued that Berisha's main goal is to negotiate constitutional changes that would enable him to rein in SPAK and protect himself, his family, and the interests of his political and economic group.
" His mind works only for self-preservation - his own, his family's, his party's and his circle's. Everyone else can just leave. He has shown this with actions, not words ," Lita said on "A2CNN", adding that Berisha has been using messages about 'free voting' as a facade for 35 years, while his actions show the opposite.
