The situation is also serious with flooding in Fier, where 27 homes have high levels of water, as a result of heavy rainfall that has been ongoing for several days.
According to the latest data, in the villages of Kashisht, Ada, Kafaraj, Cerven and Ferras, about 200 ha of agricultural land are under water, within the embankments. Meanwhile, the levels of the Seman and Shkumbin rivers are on an increasing trend.
The Vjosa River is also at risk of overflowing its banks, as the flow level at the Mifoli Bridge has exceeded the measurement points. The water has currently reached the critical level point along the length of the embankment (edge to edge).
As a result of the Vjosa River flows, there is also water present at the Kafaraj Pumping Station, Frakull Administrative Unit, from where the water supply of the city of Fier is also made.
As a precautionary measure, some of the pumps in the wells that are near the Vjosa River have been shut down and work is being done with reduced capacity through some other wells that are somewhat further away. This measure taken by UKF has reduced the water supply of the city.
Data obtained from the measurement point at the Memaliaj Bridge indicate a deterioration of the situation in the coming hours.
