Ambassador Gonzato also emphasized that the SSC has the support of the EU in its fight against corruption.
The EU ambassador in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, held a meeting with the head of the High State Audit, Arben Shehu. He stated that the SSC has a decisive role in the fight against corruption and its prevention.
Through a post on the "X" social network, Gonzato stated that he discussed with Shehu about strengthening the KLSH. Ambassador Gonzato also emphasized that the SSC has the support of the EU in its fight against corruption.
" High State Control plays a decisive role in the fight against corruption and its prevention, in promoting good governance and efficient use of public funds, as well as in supporting the Assembly in its budgetary supervision.
During today's meeting with its Chairman, Arben Shehu, we talked about strengthening the role of the KLSH. I also encouraged him to continue efforts to improve access and use of audit reports by Parliament, CSOs and citizens ," Gonzato writes.
The Albanian Supreme Audit Institution plays a crucial role in fighting and preventing corruption, in promoting good governance and an efficient use of public funds, and in supporting Parliament in its budget oversight.

It is worth noting that the KLSH is one of the only institutions that has not been caught by the Government, as it is the only institution that in its audits has revealed endless cases of abuse of public funds.
The most recent was that of the scandal with the Oncology doctors, a case which the High State Control had denounced in last year's report.
