The head of the National Chamber of Advocates, Maks Haxhia, has commented on the arrest of lawyer Ulian Bajrami after a conflict with the prosecutor in the courtroom.
This incident has caused concern in the legal community and raised debates about respecting their role in the justice system.
In an interview with "Euronews Albania", Haxhia explained the Chamber's position and the steps that will be taken further.
"To be honest, now the specific case has exceeded what we took a stand for. It is that through this case, we conveyed to the public our spirit for the installation that has been made towards the institution of defense, which is the legal profession. We came to the conclusion that through this unprecedented case, arresting a lawyer in a courtroom is something unheard of. We also appreciated the stance that we boycotted for a week, where we excluded the civil case. We are in this situation and will declare either the end or the continuation according to the steering committee ," Haxhia said.
