Ilir Meta's lawyer, Genc Gjokutaj, was seen entering the premises of the General Directorate of the Tirana Police, where it is reported that the head of the PL is being held.
In the interior of the Police Directorate of Tirana, the Secretary General of PL can be seen standing with the lawyer.
Gjokutaj is also Sali Berisha's lawyer.
Ilir Meta was arrested a few hours later in the area known as "Kthesa e Kamza" in the capital. He was put in handcuffs by order of three prosecutors, Sotir Kllapi, Arben Kraja and Altin Dumani for investigations of CEZ DIA, money laundering and non-declaration of assets.
In a statement to the media, PL Secretary Tedi Blushi called Meta's arrest a kidnapping by a criminal organization.
"A criminal, terrorist structure that dares to kidnap the former President of the Republic, the former Prime Minister and the former Speaker of the Parliament in the middle of the day. This is a disaster and once again shows the scandalous situation, the serious criminal act that will receive an exemplary response from all Albanians", he said in a statement to the media outside the PL headquarters.
