Mecaj's arrest in Dubai, Balla: We have submitted the extradition agreement to the United Emirates

Interior Minister Taulant Balla has reacted to the arrest in Dubai of the former member of the Durrës gang Julian Meçaj.

Meçaj was wanted in January of last year as one of those involved in the assassination of prosecutor Arjan Ndoja, where the latter's driver, Andi Maloku, was killed.

Balla announced that Albania has submitted to the United Emirates the agreement that will enable the extradition of those wanted by Albanian justice.

According to the minister, there is no territory outside the country that cannot be accessed by the Albanian police.

"For the Albanian state police, there is no territory outside the country that is not accessible. Thanks to the excellent cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Abu Dhabi, we have managed to identify and arrest a person much wanted by Albanian justice. The agreement that will enable extraditions has been submitted to the United Emirates. I hope we will be able to sign an agreement to make it possible for every person wanted by Albanian justice to be arrested and extradited", said Balla.
