Higher education in Albania is increasingly facing a decline in the number of students, while many branches are at risk of closure.
The education expert, Ndriçim Mehmeti, was invited to "Review" this Sunday, where he said that the situation has never been worse than this.
He said that the departure of young people has been massive and of those who left for studies, 10 or 11 people left in 2016, there is no figure if anyone has returned.
"We have discussed several times, we are 10 thousand less than in 2016, in 2016-2017-2018 the most negative trend began where 10-11 thousand people wanted to flee abroad. As a class, 300 classes with 30 people fall. We have lost 500 schools with around 400-500 students.
People have lost faith for some reasons, the quality of education, the quality of life, there was no more hope. This was done as a fashion because since 2016 no one gives us figures or did any of these come back? That they have finished the cycle of studies. We have a drastic decline of young people. In 36 years of education, I don't believe it has seen a worse day," said Mehmeti.
