"Father has been without medication for 3 months"/ Scandals continue

We find this young girl at the doors of the Oncology Hospital. She lives in Germany, but had to return to Albania, as unfortunately both her parents were diagnosed with cancer.

" It's really very difficult and something I don't know how to answer ," she says.

The mother has a breast tumor, in the preliminary stage of the disease, still in consultation with doctors. She is standing behind her so that she does not have to face alone one of the diseases that has its main weight, among other things, in psychological peace.

I am having difficulty treating my father, who was diagnosed with cutaneous lymphoma a year ago, a rare form of tumor that appears mainly in the skin in blood cells called lymphocytes.

" The problem I have is that in hematology, since my father is a patient of DLBCL, which is cutaneous lymphoma, and is currently receiving chemotherapy called CHOP. But at the same time, I also have to take the drug Polatuzumab, which is missing. Dad started chemotherapy in April. He received the first session of Polatuzumab. This drug has been missing since April, and we are now in June. This drug is vital, without this drug he cannot fully recover. My father is having his fourth session today and it is the third time that the drug has been missing ," says the young woman.

The girl, who does not want to be identified by name while her parents still have to find a solution at the hospital doors and fear that they will no longer receive services, denounces that the drug "Polatuzumab", vital for the combined chemotherapy-drug therapy, has been missing for at least 3 months, risking the treatment's effectiveness.

Desperate for helplessness to help her parents in a reality beyond her control, the daughter tells us that she has tried to obtain the necessary medicine to treat her father's tumor, even privately.

But faced with the staggering cost, it has been surrendered.

"We asked how much it costs and how likely it is that we will be able to obtain this medicine ourselves. They told us that just one dose costs between 5,000 and 7,000 euros. My father needs 6 doses, which would cost him nearly 30,000 euros if we were to obtain this medicine ourselves," he further stated.

The young woman says that doctors have suggested that Polatuzumab be postponed until the seventh or eighth session. But this is accompanied by great fear that the disease may progress and no longer respond to treatment.

" The doctors have told us that it is definitely very important. It must definitely be taken within these 6 sessions. Since it is missing now, my father will take this medication later in the 7th or 8th session. The doctors say that they have spoken to the relevant institutions and have told them that it is missing. We are afraid that the disease will take another direction and you will not be able to treat it anymore, we are afraid of this ," she continued.
