The head of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, has broken his silence on the arrest of Jamarbër Malltez and the taking of Sali Berisha as a defendant.
Although without mentioning the name and surname from Dibra, where he was in a meeting with the residents, Basha said that the "corrupt people", referring here to Berisha, must be held accountable before justice.
"Poor citizens, high corruption. This is the reality today in Albania that is forcing Albanians to leave the country. It is therefore vital today to put an end to impunity. The corrupt must be held accountable before justice and the money they took from the Albanians must be returned to them.
The money that today goes into the pockets of the rulers should be turned into good things for the citizens", writes Basha in a post on social networks.
Currently, Sali Berisha is under an obligation to appear and cannot leave the country in connection with the privatization file of the former Partizani complex. According to SPAK, the former prime minister with concrete actions influenced the adoption of laws or by-laws which were adapted to the demands of 5 owners, among whom the beneficiary was his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi.
Meanwhile, Malltezi is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of "Passive corruption of high state officials or local elected officials", committed in cooperation with Berisha, since in agreement with the latter, using the power of the former prime minister, he managed to obtain irregular benefits.
The court hearing for his son-in-law will be today at 1:00 p.m., while there is still no date when Berisha is expected to appear before the court.
