Socialist MP Erion Braçe has announced that he will run for Mayor of Tirana. He stated that this candidacy is not related to personal ambitions, but to the desire to contribute to the city and its residents.
Analyst Prec Zogaj, commenting on this development, described Braça's movement as an open challenge and a form of protest within the Socialist Party.
"The fact that Braçe announces his candidacy while the name of Ogerta Manastirliu is being rumored as a candidate supported by the SP, indicates an internal clash and an attempt to raise his voice against the way the party functions. This move also constitutes an "alarm bell", as the Socialist Party is moving towards a pronounced personalization.
Both Braçe and Elisa Spiropali have expressed dissatisfaction, although Braçe is more articulate in publicizing the issues. Braçe's candidacy is a deliberate political act to create a movement and challenge the status quo within the SP ," he said on the show "The Unexposed."
