Today, the head of the Institute of Statistics, Elsa Dhuli, stated that the cost of carrying out the Agricultural Census process amounts to 9.2 million euros.
While reporting at the joint meeting of the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight with the Committee on Economy, Employment and Finance, Dhuli said that the strategy for the new census will depend on the approval of the draft law, which according to her has undergone a long consultation process.
"The agricultural census is planned to be conducted in accordance with the recommendations of the World Agriculture Organization, for the 20/20 census round and the European Commission regulation on integrated farm statistics.
The census strategy is currently in the process of being updated and officially approved. It depends on the approval of the draft law on the agricultural census, which has undergone a long process of consultations with local and international experts and most recently a public consultation.
Regarding the cost of coverage, it is expected to cost 9.2 million euros (920 million lekë) that have been requested from the state budget in the 2026-2028 medium-term budget plan," said Dhuli.
She further added that INSTAT is collaborating with the Ministry of Rural Development and Rural Development to carry out this process.
Let us recall that the first agricultural census was carried out in 2012 and the second was supposed to be carried out in 2022, but the deadline was not met. It was postponed to 2024, but this deadline was not met either, and it is now expected that this process will be carried out in the fall of 2026.
This census aims to collect data on agricultural structures, land, horticulture, but also livestock, both those that produce for the market and those that only provide for family needs.
