The murder of the Greek owner and Albanian helper at a campsite in Finikounda that occurred on the evening of October 5th may take another turn, as far as the investigation is concerned.
This is because a 22-year-old man, according to Greek media , has turned himself in to the police and stated that he will cooperate in identifying the perpetrator. Initially, it was reported that the young man was a relative of the 68-year-old Greek owner of the campsite, but later it turned out that he is one of the two people suspected of having participated in the murder.
The young man who surrendered, according to Greek media, appears in videos in the possession of the police, as being traveling on the perpetrator's motorcycle and, as he told the police, he will uncover the perpetrator.
The young man also allegedly told police that the victim (the owner of the campsite) had sexually abused him in the summer of 2022.
We recall that the perpetrator of the double murder at the Finikounda campsite is still at large. Although authorities have mapped out his escape route on a motorbike through dozens of points along his route from Messinia to Athens, he remains missing, having not been found so far.
However, the police have been considering for days the possibility that the perpetrator had an accomplice.
How did the double murder at the campsite happen?
The murder took place on the evening of October 5 at a campsite in Finikounda, when the perpetrator, after covering his face, forced his way into the reception where the 68-year-old owner was with his 60-year-old caretaker and his old friend. The gunman shot the owner in cold blood, fatally wounding him, and then killed his Albanian friend, who tried to escape. The owner's nephew was also present at the double murder, who managed to escape.
