The joint meeting of the Committee on Legal Affairs and Public Administration with the Committee on Civic Initiatives, Cooperation and Institutional Oversight is taking place today.
At the hearing, the Prosecutor General, Olsian Çela, reported on the crime situation for 2024.
During his speech, the Chief Prosecutor stated that in 2024, 61,167 materials and 47,576 criminal proceedings were reviewed.
"Tirana with the highest number of proceedings, Dibra and Kukës with the lowest number of proceedings," he said.
Meanwhile, Prosecutor Çela stated that during 2024, 2159 people were wiretapped, of which 933 with court authorization.
"During 2024, 933 court-authorized interception decisions in preliminary investigations and 538 prosecutorial authorizations and orders were executed. Interception was enabled for 2,361 terminal devices used by 2,159 persons suspected of being involved in criminal offenses," he said.
