The lawyer Kreshnik Spahiu spoke about the housing and population census in Albania. He said that by defining religion in this census, there may be some kind of ethnic deviation of persons.
Spahiu recalled that in Albania the phenomenon was very well known when people changed their nationality just to get a pension.
"Actually, internally, they are working so that through the definition of religion, there is some kind of deviation in the ethnic identity of the persons. But we also had another legal problem. Albania has had a law that the whole planet does not have, to change the nationality by court decision.
Albania has allowed people with a certificate or confirmation from the church to go and say that "I am not an Albanian, I belong to another nationality", this has happened in thousands of cases to benefit from a 320 euro pension", said the lawyer Spahiu .
