Journalist Baton Haxhiu has opposed the imprisonment of the mayor of Himara Fredi Beleri, speaking in the language of Berisha.
Invited to a show on Berisha's family's television, Haxhiu said that the government's decision to imprison Beleri will ignite an ethnic problem with Greece.
" What happened, which is very wrong, I warned him that this will not end with an imprisonment but with a clash of Albanian-Greek relations for the reason that Albania, from the entire region, has been the only country without ethnic problems.
You cannot live on an island without any ethnic problems and not be influenced by the surrounding countries. One of the reasons why Beleri should not be jailed and made a hero is precisely this ethnic problem that Albania has never had behind and won with Beleri ," he said.
