In the absence of institutional intervention and faced with an unusual influx of vehicles, the residents of the village of Spathar in Librazhd have been forced to take on the role of the state: they have placed directional and warning signs themselves on the rural segment Spathar–Ancient Egnatia Road–Dardhe–Hotolisht, which is being used as an alternative route after the closure of the national axis Librazhd–Prrenjas.

The segment, designed for local traffic, has become the only artery connecting Tirana with the Southeast of the country, as the national road in the Arrave i Gurrës area remains impassable. From a village road, the axis has transformed within days into a national corridor, handling hundreds of thousands of vehicles per day.

The extraordinary flow has highlighted the fragility of the infrastructure. Part of the segment, paved only a short time ago, has begun to be damaged by the unusual load, while other parts, worn out over the years, have become difficult to pass. Potholes, cracks and a lack of official signage turn this "rescue" road into a test of patience for drivers.

In the absence of official signs, residents have improvised signage with makeshift tools to guide drivers and avoid the risk of accidents. At a time when it comes to an axis that connects the capital with a large part of the Southeast, orientation with hand-placed signs has become the only solution on the ground.

Residents are outraged by the lack of intervention from the responsible structures. According to them, there is no presence of vehicles from the Road Authority or companies working on the segments of Corridor VIII to stabilize this alternative axis and guarantee minimal traffic safety.

On Monday evening, a village representative called for solidarity and institutional support for the urgent improvement of the parameters of the Spathar–Ancient Egnatia Road–Dardhe–Hotolisht road. They warn that if there is no concrete intervention in the coming days, they will be forced to block traffic as a form of pressure on the responsible institutions.

Meanwhile, this axis serves not only for ordinary traffic, but is also vital for health emergencies and for the economic connection between Tirana and the Southeast. Any further degradation risks deepening the isolation of the area and escalating the social and economic consequences. On the ground, for the moment, the state is represented by handwritten signs.
