Berat is one of the cities that has seen a large increase in tourists in Albania this year.
However, a problem that is evident not only in Berat but throughout the country, is the road infrastructure.
The mayor of Berat, Ervin Demo, invited to the studio of the show Opinion on TV Klan, emphasized that interurban and intra-city transport remain a problem for tourism.
"We have two problems. We have problems with the interurban and buses within the cities. Not all tourists have vehicles. Internal lines, especially in rural areas, run once every 4 hours. And that's one thing we can't operate at the rates we've had for 10 years. If we want a service, we must be ready to pay for the service," he said .
According to the mayor Demo, this year there were about 600 thousand tourists in Berat.
"Berati has had an extraordinary boom. So far, there are approximately 600,000 tourists in Berat. Apart from hotels, the biggest boom this year was in houses that hosted tourists in rooms or houses for rent. This is something that shows us our weak points, but at the same time most tourists leave Albania with extraordinary impressions", he said .
