The strike of employees of the company "Bankers Petroleum Albania" in Marinzë, Fier has entered its 11th day, while the strikers report strong psychological and economic pressure from the company.
Some of the employees who had boycotted work to support the strike have returned to work, but are no longer part of the protest, saying they were forced to due to financial difficulties.
"We are surviving with our souls between our teeth," say the strikers, who say they will continue their resistance until their demands are met.
" Without unions, there is no democracy and the time has come for this call to resound strongly to restore the dignity of employees. The pressure and intimidation of the company has been so strong that some of the colleagues have been forced to return to work. They have put the bread rope around their necks, the bread of the children, but we will not give up ," said striker Dritan Rrapushi, representative of the Hydrocarbon Sector Union.
The strike, which began on October 15, was organized by the Hydrocarbon Sector Union, which is demanding a salary increase and improved working conditions. Currently, the average salary of employees in Marinza is around 60 thousand lek, while the strikers are demanding that it reach 100 thousand lek per month.
