Security expert Fatjon Softa spoke about the capture of the drone in Peqin prison, which was transporting narcotics and mobile phones to the prisoners. This case raised the alarm about security in prisons.
Softa emphasized that there should be a special legislation for the use of drones. He added that they should be used above a certain weight, as more than 200 grams can contain harmful substances.
"Drones are getting widespread use. They have also entered the police structure. This remains for the underworld as well. Technology is also invested in criminal groups. I think that it is not only a matter of prisons but also of the Albanian government. We need a law on drones. At what levels should drones be used for citizens? Above a certain weight, more than 200 g can contain even harmful substances. It also serves for execution. Control is needed. Very important issue", said Softa for "Report Tv".
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of investments in prisons and that every prison should be built on security standards.
"The need to use narcotics turns into a vital need. Use such elements to penetrate. They cannot stay away from the world they have left. Second, corruption, salaries or lack of personnel control lowers the level of security. Security cameras don't even work in Peqin. The scales are tipped towards corruption. Every prison must be built on security standards. We also need to invest in people. There is also differentiation in prisons. The stronger live better, exploiting the weaker. They have turned some of the prisons into training halls" , said Softa.
