Lawyer Naim Hasani has commented on the ambitions of the British government to fight illegal immigration.
The Italy-Albania agreement for immigrants has aroused interest in Britain, where Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with his counterpart Giogia Meloni and this pact was also the focus of the talks. In several outings, the British government has said that it will see how the agreement between Albania and Italy works.
Lawyer Hasani told Report TV that Starmer's government has improved relations with Albania, recalling the harsh rhetoric of conservatives calling Albanian immigrants invaders or criminals.
"Britain has spent 2 turbulent years in terms of the treatment of illegal immigrants, we have a constant increase in the number of immigrants who risk their lives on rafts. The previous government focused on the treatment of Albanian immigrants as the main problem of immigration, we have addressed the behavior of Braverman, who did not hesitate to call Albanians invaders and criminals. But with the departure of the conservative government and the return of the Labor Party, we have had a dramatic improvement in the reports of the British government in terms of its behavior in relation to the Albanians, where the media rarely use the term Albanians, the main problem of emigration", said Hasani.
Hasani says that the fight against illegal immigration is a priority of the British government and that the measures will be very strict for the return of any immigrant who does not meet the criteria.
"It will be a fair but tough government regarding illegal immigration. The government has clearly stated that it will respect every international convention and international rights. The British government is interested in dealing with the claims of every immigrant, but will be tough on the rapid training and return as soon as possible of those who have no right to stay. They are considering the possibility of some countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, where they can give them temporary residence permits for a certain time until the situation improves in their country. The focus will be on bringing to justice all traffickers who organize this terrible international traffic", continued Hasani.
Hasani also has a comment about Albania, saying that it should not return to a country where other countries intend to bring illegal immigrants.
"Albania should not turn into a country where every country wants to send immigrants it doesn't want. It should join the EU or even Great Britain in the fight against immigration by implementing democratic standards and strengthening the rule of law in Albania, not making it a country that produces illegal immigrants, but that offers stability," Hasani said.
