Tens and hundreds of Albanians came out in the center of London to celebrate Independence Day on the evening of November 28.
The streets around Westminster were blocked by crowds of people waving the Albanian flag and lighting fireworks. Also in cars, Audi Mercedes and sports cars rode through the pavements while honking their horns and celebrating by waving the red and black flag.
The rally has caused traffic and road blockages. Through posts on X, the London police said they had found violations during the rally.
"Officers have stopped several convoys of vehicles that have moved in central London this evening," the police wrote on the X social network.
For some, the police have identified them as anti-social behavior, therefore they have stopped a number of car drivers for misdemeanors and seized the vehicles.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail has also published photos from the rally and informs that some were stopped because they threw fireworks and bottles at the officers.
The police intervened to disperse the gathering even near Waterloo Station. More than 1,000 people are said to have participated, British media report, while one person was arrested after throwing fireworks, while two cars were stopped as they were moving with people who had climbed onto the car and waved the flag while the vehicle was moving.
"This is clearly dangerous. Two cars have been stopped and others will be stopped if necessary, the police said.
Officers also stopped several cars driving in central London. Drivers were reported for violating driving rules while some cars were stopped
According to the estimates of the National Statistics Office, in 2019 there are 47,000 Albanian residents born in the United Kingdom.
