The head of the Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime, Altin Dumani, stated today that SPAK has played an important role in removing Albania from the FATF gray list in December 2023.
He underlined that SPAK has also established direct contacts with Latin American countries which will significantly increase the strengthening of cooperation in the investigation of criminal offenses within the framework of organized crime. This is a clear message to the Albanian cocaine 'bosses' operating in Colombia and Bolivia.
In today's hearing at the High Council of Prosecution, Dumani said that, "one of the reasons for this very positive decision has to do with the work of SPAK, and I quote part of the report, 'with the increase in the number and improvement of the sophistication of confiscations of money laundering'".
Dumani said that SPAK has managed to create credibility with partner institutions at the regional level and beyond.
"Already, DEA and FBI representatives have been attached to SPAK offices to better coordinate and assist the investigation and cooperation between law enforcement agencies" , Dumani emphasized.
