The head of the Special Prosecution Against Organized Crime and Corruption, Altin Dumani, has analyzed the work of this institution throughout 2023 in the premises of the High Council of Prosecution.
At the hearing, Dumani said that SPAK has conducted investigations at high levels. He also emphasized that SPAK has made it possible for Albania to get off the gray list.
Duman emphasized that SPAK is a reliable institution in the eyes of the allies, while he said that in 2023 a qualitative growth has been achieved.
" For 2023 SPAK has recognized a qualitative increase, these are also cited in the Progress Report published in November 2023. SPAK has managed to create credibility with the partner authorities. Representatives of the DEA and the FBI are attached to SPAK. We have established direct contact with the authorities of Latin American countries" , said Dumani.
In this context, speaking with figures, Dumani said that there are 221 criminal proceedings for corruption, of which 18 defendants are high-level officials.
" It continued with the strengthening of the expertise laboratory, the sector of financial investigators, adding human resources as well. Special attention has been given to the investigation of the products of the criminal offense. The value of the confiscated and seized assets reaches a total value of 41 million euros, of which 54% were seized, the rest confiscated, " said Dumani, among other things.
