Journalist and activist Aranita Brahaj and journalist Ervis Iljazaj debated in the studio of the show "Now with Erla Mëhillin" on Euronews Albania, regarding the progress of SPAK's work.
Brahaj said that SPAK should once again close the files it has taken over and then wait for others, because according to her, this institution is just making a show with them.
On the other hand, Iljazaj rejected her claim, saying that SPAK is the only institution that should investigate the corruption of officials.
He also said that Albania is the only country that has an Anti-Corruption Ministry, which according to him does not exist in any European country.
Excerpts from the studio discussion:
Brahaj: If you have files on the floor and are waiting for other files, finish work with these once, then wait for others. And the institutions say yes, why should we take them, when they are not done with these things.
Iljazaj: How logical is this? He found a problem. He said that the administration does not bring me reports. There is corruption in customs, yes. There is corruption in taxes, yes. They have not brought any files, he said.
Brahaj: Customs does not deal with crime at the political level, at the high level. There is no prosecutor Durrësi, Tirana.
Iljazaj: Is there an audit body there? It is the corruption of the officials, they are SPAK, SPAK investigates them. Duman's logic when he said this statement is that 'don't expect everything to come from SPAK'.
Brahaj: To continue bringing these files to light at once, either closed or opened. You make a show with the files.
Iljazaj: We are the champion country of anti-corruption reforms. We have an anti-corruption ministry. In Europe, this ministry does not exist.
