A heavy smell was felt in Mamurras and Fushë Mamurras at noon today, as school students were taken out of the classrooms and classes were interrupted.

The headman of the village of Fushë Mamuras, Astrit Tafa, told the media that the residents have been notified that there is a gas leak.

According to him, relevant authorities have been notified, but the source of the gas is still unknown. Tafa added that there is no room for panic.

"The wind has been blowing for 1 hour, the residents have been notified that there is a gas leak. We still don't know where it came from. We are verifying on the ground. We have taken the measures to identify the case where this leak came from. We appeal to the residents to calm down, most of them have left. Open the premises of the house so that the smell of gas comes out. We wait to see where they came from.

The schools have come out of the smell of gas. As the head of the village, we have taken the measures that I told you, we have notified the local government, the police. There should be no panic, the smell of gas is gone", he stressed.
