Former judge Luan Hasneziri has expressed his experiences after the event that shocked the justice system and public opinion, where the victim inside the courtroom was a member of the black squads, Astrit Kalaja.
Hasneziri said that public trust in the judiciary is very low due to Albania's historical course. The former judge also accused politics, which, according to him, has incited citizens to attack them with hate speech against the black platoons.
"I, in fact, having been part of the judicial system as a judge for 20 years and now removed from the Vetting process, which time will judge. I think that the event is a chronicle of an event foretold due to the fact that the entire public opinion but also the executive and legislative powers have a pathological hatred towards the judicial power and the lawyers understand that it is hatred without reason.
This has the historical aspect that Albania as a small country and then occupied and with dictatorial power, we have never had independent justice. Where the judge was always seen as an unreliable person but also the current policy by labeling judges and impregnating public opinion has brought these serious consequences. I have experienced it very badly since I also knew the deceased, since I was his former colleague. It was a serious blow to the entire justice system but also the rule of law. Immediate measures must be taken to guarantee the safety of judges but also to bring the spirit of trust of citizens to the court" , Hasneziri told "A2 CNN".
