Tourism expert Ferjolt Ozuni has commented on the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama today.
The expert said that it is geographically impossible for Albania to host 30 million tourists, unless it also fills the mountains with visitors.
On the other hand, he brings back to attention last year, while declaring that there were 10 million tourists and the chaos that was achieved was quite well seen.
" I have the impression that physically it is a bit impossible because if you take it geographically, if we just fill the mountains with people, we will get 30 million tourists. The government has said that we will be oriented towards elite tourism. 30 million elite tourists would be the most beautiful dream possible to see a crazy person. Last year we saw some chaos. The problem is not to increase the numbers, the problem is that when you reach the peak, it is very easy to reach the top, and from 20 -30 million, then we will rise to 2-3 million. We will continue to grow. We will have an increase in two more years , "said the expert for MCN.
Furthermore, Ozuni stated that he sees contradictions in the government's statements, that on the one hand it targets elite tourism and on the other hand it talks about increasing the numbers.
" The biggest problem in the prime minister's speech was the clash of opinions. Because if we continue with this growth, we will get low cost tourists. Last summer we did not even reach the value of 400 euros for tourists. We are at the lowest value for foreign tourists in all of Europe. Two years ago, Croatia had 980 euros. We in Albania today have to choose the tourist. If we aim for 30 million tourists, we will get some that come out first, at low cost. Last year we had tourists with bread with them, in the first sense. The quality of tourism raises the standard. We are advertised as low cost tourism, and that's why most come. If we increase the quality of the service, the price will increase and we will get more income. We have increased the prices abusively and often these hotels and accommodation units have remained empty. Achieving Greece's wages is achievable because the crises have caused Greece to cut wages. To compare with Greece is easy. But let's pay the employees even in the off-season to increase the quality of the service ", said Ozuni.
Also, the expert does not spare the accusations, while stating that according to him, Albania is not able to offer the appropriate services to at least 10 million tourists.
" Today, we are not able to offer adequate services to even 10 million tourists. Based on the information we did a small study, they do not even reach 6-7 percent of tourists who return within 3-4 years once. The biggest problem is that those who do not return do not recommend others. The feedback they give is not very comfortable. Two of the biggest problems we have is that we don't stop foreigners from being guides here, and that any type of bus can enter Albania and do whatever they want ", said Ozuni.
