The SPAK Special Prosecution Office has taken over the case of the murder of judge Astrit Kalaja, who was shot three times inside the courtroom today.
SPAK prosecutors have arrived at the Tirana Court of Appeals. It is learned that two SPAK prosecutors, Adnan Xholi and Vladimir Mara, are at the scene and will deal with the case.
We recall that the serious incident occurred this afternoon at around 3:40 PM, where after Judge Astrit Kalaja delivered the verdict, Elvis Shkëmbi (a party to this process) pulled out a gun in the courtroom and shot first Judge Kalaja, and then the opposing parties Rakip and Ervis Kurtaj (father and son).
After the shooting, the judge managed to leave the courtroom, but then fell to the ground. Meanwhile, the perpetrator himself did not leave, he handed over the weapon to the security guard at the court.
"Around 15:40, in the premises of the Court of Appeal of General Jurisdiction in Tirana, during a court proceeding, it is suspected that citizen E. Sh., 30 years old (party to the proceedings) fired a firearm at the judge, citizen AK, and citizens RK, 65 years old and EK, 45 years old, his son (the other party to the proceedings).
As a result, citizen AK lost his life and citizens RK and E. K were injured, who are out of danger to their lives. Upon receiving the notification, the Police Services immediately went to the scene and made it possible to capture and escort to the premises of the Tirana DVP, the suspected perpetrator, citizen E.
