Analyst Fitim Zekthi has reacted harshly to the positions of the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama regarding the citizen protest, accusing them of attempting to discredit it through political labels and accusations that, according to him, have no connection to reality.
In a lengthy public analysis, Zekthi focuses on attacks on Dritan Goxhaj, who read out the protesters' demands during the rally. According to him, attempts to portray Goxhaj as a supporter of Iranian interests are unjustified and undermine public debate.
"Dritan Goxhaj fought in Kosovo against Serbian terrorists, he fought in the war for Kosovo's independence. How can a man who went to be killed for his homeland serve Iran?", says Zekthi.
He argues that Goxhaj's positions on developments in the Middle East are opinions that are also shared by academics and former senior American officials, rejecting attempts to label him politically.
The analyst also addresses allegations that the protest is fueling anti-Semitic sentiment or anti-Israeli sentiment. According to him, these accusations are untrue and create a false perception of Albania.
"This vile war, this vile, diabolical lie exposes Albania to a situation that has no connection with the truth. Albania has never been and will never be anti-Semitic," he writes.
Zekthi emphasizes that the protest is made up of citizens with different political and social beliefs, who have united due to dissatisfaction with governance, corruption, and lack of perspective.
"The protest is made up of young people, students, some of the best professionals in the country, young families, intellectuals, people who live and want to live by their own sweat," he says.
Zekthi also asks the government to face criticism through political arguments and not through labels that, according to him, harm the national interest.
"The government and its people need to find more serious, more reasoned, more reasonable criticisms than these low things of an anti-national nature," he concludes.

Është e kuptueshme që lufta politike do të jetë e egër dhe që palët e rrezikuara do të përdorin mjete nga më të ashprat në favor të tyre. Kësisoj është e kuptueshme që qeveria, kryeministri Rama dhe të gjithë njerëzit e tij në media do të përdorin sulme nga më të ashprat dhe më të ulëtat në luftë me protestën, e cila, duhet thënë, është e para në historinë e Shqipërisë pas atyre të vitit 1990 që rrezikon pushtetin e qeverisë (dhe të një pjese të madhe të klasës 35-vjeçare politike). Mirëpo kjo luftë nuk mund të jetë kaq e ndyrë sa të prekë interesin kombëtar të Shqipërisë, nuk mund të jetë kaq e ulët sa të njollosë kot së koti vendin tonë me gjëra që jo vetëm nuk i ka, por as i ka pasur kurrë.
Dje zyra e kryeministrit Rama, njerëzit e tij kudo filluan të thonë që Dritan Goxhaj, njeriu që lexoi, në emër të protestuesve, kërkesat e tyre për qeverinë, u sulmua si një njeri që mbron Iranin apo që mbron interesa iraniane në Shqipëri. Duhet të mos kesh në qenien tënde asgjë që ka të bëjë me moralin dhe me vetëdijen për vendin tënd që të shkosh deri këtu. Dritan Goxhaj ka luftuar në Kosovë kundër terroristëve serbë, ka luftuar në luftën për pavarësinë e Kosovës. Ai madje akuzohet, si edhe Thaçi, Veseli, Krasniqi, nga Gjykata e Hagës se gjoja ka bërë krime kundër serbëve (një akuzë e vjetër serbe kjo për të njollosur luftën). Si mund t’i shërbejë Iranit një njeri që ka shkuar të vritet për atdheun e tij? Ai madje ka shkuar atje së bashku me babain e tij dhe ka qenë një prej njerëzve që dihet botërisht që ka luftuar në terren.
Rama dhe njerëzit e tij kërkojnë ta lidhin atë me qëndrime proiraniane sepse Dritan Goxhaj ka thënë dhe ka shkruar në analizat e tij si ekspert i çështjeve të sigurisë (si ushtarak) që SHBA dështoi në Iran, që SHBA zhvilloi në Iran një luftë të panevojshme. Këto qëndrime i kanë mbajtur edhe disa prej profesorëve më të njohur në botë (amerikanë të gjithë) të marrëdhënieve ndërkombëtare si Stephen Walt, Barry Posen, Kenneth Pollack, Jarrett Blanc, John Mearsheimer etj. Këto qëndrime i kanë mbajtur disa prej ish-gjeneralëve më të njohur amerikanë si David Petraeus, ish-komandant i CENTCOM dhe ish-drejtor i CIA-s, Martin Dempsey (ish-shef i shtabit të ushtrisë amerikane), Anthony Zinni, ish-shef i CENTCOM etj. Thuajse të gjithë profesorët e marrëdhënieve ndërkombëtare dhe shumë ushtarakë të lartë e kanë pasur këtë qëndrim. Dritan Goxhaj ka pasur po këtë qëndrim. Kjo është të luash mendsh, por kur e bën me njerëz që për hallin e vet shesin dhe djegin çdo gjë, pritet edhe kjo.

The protest is made up of young people, students, the best professionals in the country, young families, intellectuals, people who live and want to live by their own sweat and are there only because Rama, his government, the political class have built a country without justice, with gigantic corruption, have produced a situation where the weak are punished, investigated, remain in prison and high-ranking government officials attack, insult, blackmail prosecutors and refuse to be investigated.
People are there with all the colors that our society has. They are there as socialists humiliated by the government, which is not only socialist; they are there as right-wingers trampled and despised by the difficult situation of the country; they are there as Christians and as Muslims who see how some of the worst and most corrupt examples of history, mentioned by God in the Quran or the Bible, such as the case of Pharaoh, are living on them every day; they are there as young people with no perspective for the future, except for leaving; they are there as conservatives or liberals; they are there perhaps also as people who want a strong and absolute monarchy or as Marxists; they are as fans of Germany or Brazil and they are all against the government, against the difficult situation of the country.
The government and its people need to find more serious, more reasoned, more reasonable criticisms, because there may be, they can be found, than these low things of an anti-national nature.
